1.  Be 18 years of age or older and hold an unrestricted valid license. .

2. Pass a Commercial Driver’s Medical. You will be required to take a ‘Commercial Driver’s Licence Medical Report’ form to your Physician along with a $100.00 fee. (form must be printed double-sided or available at any SGI Agency/ our office).

3. Bring a Driver’s Abstract. Download it from your ‘MySGI’ account (no charge) or pick up at any SGI agency ($15.00 fee).

4. We recommend you complete your 1A Learners before the start of the MELT Program. Written tests for Class 1, 2, 4, 5, ‘Sign & Airbrake’,  ‘Airbrakes’; ‘Professional Driver’ ; ‘Driver’s Handbook’. all need to be completed as well(Manuals are available at SGI Agencies or click the links). If you do not have your Learners, you are still welcome to begin the program, however, you will be required to complete these requirements before advancing (you can only start the practical learning (diving) in a Semi once you have completed your Learners). This may result in a loss of time during the course to attend exams, causing the course to roll over into a 5th week. 

5. Choose a preferred class date. Dates available on the website. Class date will be communicated to you.

6. Send an email to office@1ayq.ca with the following information:
• a copy of your driver’s abstract;
• preferred class date; and
• the date you went for your commercial medical and the billing reference noted by the physician.

7. Once your information has been validated and your class date accepted, we will provide you with payment instructions.

8. Guarantee your spot. You will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of $2,000.00 to 1A YQ.

9. Download WHATSAPP. Much of our class notes, schedules, videos, extra study sessions are posted on WHATSAPP. 

11. Your MELT Program fee and Calling Rivers Program Fee must be paid in full at least 7 days prior the start date.

This fee includes everything – all you have to bring is your lunch kit and a mind ready to learn.
